Eight Manufacturers Recall Pool and In-Ground Spa Drain Covers

Eight manufacturers have recalled swimming pool and in-ground spa drain covers. These covers may pose a "possible entrapment hazard" to swimmers, says The U.S. consumer product safety commission.

Manufacturers affected: A&A, AquaStar, Color Match, Custom Molded Products, Hayward Pool Products, Pentair Water Pool & Spa, Rising Dragon, Waterway.

Is your pool or spa affected by this recall?

if you have an in ground spa, or

if you have a wading (kiddie) pool, or

your pool has only one drain, and that drain is not a long channel drain,

your drain may be affected by this recall.

Consumers with one of the affected drain covers should immediately call the manufacturer for a replacement or retrofit.

This is a limited recall. Of the 6.5 million swimming pools built from Dec. 16, 2008 to May 2011, only 5 percent are affected by this recall.
